Fortnite squad world record is now 61 kills

If there’s one thing that’s guaranteed to make me feel better about my Fortnite skills, it’s watching other players kill half the players on the map and make it look easy. No?

An Australian Fortnite squad has set a new world record for the number of kills in a single Fortnite game, resting at a whopping 61. The squad, made up of players Fortitude_Fqrbes, Nexjs, tactjc- and TTV_NadeXC, managed to claim 25, 18, 10 and eight kills respectively. The run began (as ever) in a heavily-populated Tilted Towers, and ended with a tense exchange in the hills surrounding Tomato Temple.

I get excited when I kill one person.

Somewhat unsurprisingly, the language gets pretty tasty towards the end of the video, so you might want to turn down your speakers before watching. Your neighbours don’t need to hear any of that.

Fortnite world records are typically categorised into separate platforms and game modes. The newest record was achieved on PlayStation, but appears to be the highest number of squad kills on any platform. The previous overall squad kill records appear to have rested on 59 for both PC and console, making this the first known time a squad has broken the 60-kill mark. It’s a little hard to keep track of the world records, however, as there are often competing claims and debates over the validity of tactics such as team-killing.

Earlier this summer, a more controversial record was set when one player took advantage of a rocket-viewing party to claim 48 kills in solo. The episode sparked a debate about whether griefing could count towards a world record – so at least this one is based purely on skill. Who will be the next to break the record?
