Nioh's PS4 Pro perks outlined

Koei Tecmo’s upcoming samurai action game Nioh received a lot of praise in its alpha for allowing players options for whether they wanted a slick 60fps framerate with 720p resolution, or a crisper 1080p resolution capped at 30fps. Now Team Ninja’s latest is adding even more customisation options for people playing on PS4 Pro.

While the regular PS4 limits Nioh’s performance and graphic options to the aforementioned “Movie Mode” (1080p, 30fps), “Action Mode” (720p, 60fps), or a “Movie Mode” with an unlocked variable framerate that will sometimes creep over 30, the PS4 Pro offers even higher def version of these. As detailed on the PlayStation Blog Sony’s more powerful platform, you’ll have the following four options:

  • PS4 Pro, HD display. Option 1: “Movie Mode”
Stable 19201080 resolution with high quality anti-aliasing at 30fps
  • PS4 Pro, HD display. Option 2: “Action Mode”
    Stable 19201080 resolution at 60fps
  • PS4 Pro, 4K display. Option 1: “Movie Mode”
    Stable 38402160 resolution at 30fps
  • PS4 Pro, 4K display. Option 2: “Action Mode”
    Stable 19201080 resolution at 60fps

As such, if you don’t have a 4K TV, you can get a best of both worlds scenario with the HD “Action Mode” at 19201080 with 60fps. But if you have a nifty 4K telly, you’ll have to decide where to pump those extra resources to.
