Pokémon Go leak explains new method to evolve Eevee into Leafeon, Glaceon

Eevee evolutions Leafeon and Glaceon are still to arrive in Pokmon Go, but a fresh leak seems to have revealed a brand new mechanic which will – at last – make them obtainable.

Code found in Pokmon Go’s latest update by serial leaker Chrales details several new types of Lure Module. These are the first variants of the item since the game’s launch almost three years ago.

While they are yet to actually go live, three types have been detailed in full:

A Glacial Lure Module will not only attract Pokmon “that love the cold” – ie. Ice types – but also “cause some Pokmon to evolve”. This would be a perfect fit for Eevee’s Ice evolution, Glaceon.

A Mossy Lure Module, meanwhile, will attract Pokmon “that love mossy scents” – ie. Grass types – but again “cause some Pokmon to evolve”. You’ve guessed it, this would be a perfect fit for Eevee’s Grass evolution, Leafeon.

Finally, there’s a Magnetic Lure Module. This will do the same for electric types, and it’s probably how both Magnemite and Nosepass will evolve into their final evolutions, Magnezone and Probopass.

These items fit the lore of the original Pokmon games, which required you take your Pokmon to a specific area (icy, grassy, or magnetic) for them to evolve. Presumably you’ll have to fire up a lure at a PokStop then stand within its radius to unlock your Pokmon’s option to evolve.

It’s unclear, though, how you’ll obtain these items in-game. Typically, Lure Modules are obtained via Pokmon Go’s in-game shop, either individually or in bundles, although you also get a handful by levelling up.

Hopefully the new Lure Module types will be distributed in a similar way to Pokmon Go’s previous Gen 4 evolution item, the Sinnoh Stone, which is sometimes granted via PVP battles, or in your reward for hitting your weekly streak for completing research.

Until these items go live, Pokmon Go’s Detective Pikachu event is currently live. You can nab yourself a detective cap-wearing Pika, new avatar items, and catch movie-related Pokmon spawns.
